Step back through 5,000 years of history on this unforgettable day tour to Stonehenge and the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral.
Visit the magical ancient site of Stonehenge, and learn how thousands of years of history shaped the monument we see today. Consider the mystery of the “Blue Stones,” transported from as far away as Wales, a puzzle that still remains unsolved.
We then travel to the historic city of Salisbury. Wander its medieval streets before exploring Salisbury Cathedral, built in 1220, home to Britain’s tallest spire and an original 1215 Magna Carta.

Timings: Our usual start time is 9.30 am. However, if your ship arrives later than 9:30am, we will adjust the tour to fit your actual arrival and departure times, so there is no need to worry.
Please Note: English Heritage and Salisbury Cathedral do not permit private guides to conduct tours inside. You will explore independently, with your dedicated driver providing orientation, helpful information, and clear timings at each stop so you know when to be back at the minibus.

Here's how to find us once your ship docks:
Step 1: The Free Shuttle
Upon disembarking, board the complimentary blue shuttle bus. The journey takes around 3 minutes. The shuttle bus located just a few metres from the gangway.
Step 2: The Meeting Point
Get off at Portland Castle, just beyond the main port entrance. Your Dorset Tours team member will be waiting there to welcome you.
Timings: Our usual start time is 9.30 am. However, if your ship arrives later than 9:30am, we will adjust the tour to fit your arrival and departure.

Salisbury Cathedral
Explore the historic city and market town of Salisbury that grew up around the cathedral. Visit Salisbury Cathedral, built in 1220, the tallest and most beautiful church building in Britain. Within the Cathedral view the best preserved copy of the Magna Carta, the medieval document written in 1215, that forms the foundation of the rule of law and many countries’ constitutions.

If time allows, we'll head back to the Isle of Portland and ascend 500 feet above sea level to unveil the breathtaking Chesil Beach and the Portland Olympic Rings! Spanning 18 miles, this beach beautifully links Portland to the mainland.

Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before the activity start time. If you cancel within 48 hours of departure, or fail to attend, no refund will be issued.
More than 48 hours’ notice before the tour: 100% refund
Less than 48 hours’ notice before the tour: No refund
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after the scheduled departure time.
Ship Unable to Dock
In the event that your ship is unable to dock due to bad weather or an itinerary change, you will be entitled to a full refund.
Please note: Stripe, our payment processing provider, may retain a processing fee of up to 3.25% to 4.9%, which is beyond our control.

Do we book Stonehenge tickets?
We generally advise against pre-purchasing Stonehenge tickets, as they are non-refundable. For example, if you are unable to make the tour, your ship misses port, or we are unable to operate the tour for any reason, your Stonehenge tickets would not be refunded by English Heritage.
All attraction tickets can be purchased at the gate on the day without issue. Stonehenge never "run out" of tickets on the day.
Please be aware, that during mid season there maybe lines to get your tickets.

Do you have minimum group numbers?
Yes.
Like many small tour companies, we do require a minimum number of passengers to run any of our tours.
If the number of passengers is not met you will be notified around 72 hours before your tour departure and offered an alternative date. *Subject to availability.
If we need to cancel your tour due to insufficient numbers, you will be refunded in full.

Mobility & Accessibility
Our tours vary depending on the locations and sites visited, and some may be more suitable than others depending on individual mobility needs. Please note that some walking is necessary to access certain sites along the Jurassic Coast.
