Find your highlights

What can you see on a Jurassic Coast tour?

The route makes the difference. Some days focus on the famous arch and cove, while others combine the coast with Dorset villages, historic landmarks and viewpoints.

Durdle Door & Lulworth Cove

Durdle Door’s limestone arch and Lulworth’s curved bay make a memorable introduction to the coast. Enjoy the views, take photographs and explore at your own pace within the time available at each stop.

Corfe Castle & Purbeck

A visit to Corfe adds a different side of Dorset to your coastal day. Explore the stone-built village beneath the castle ruins, browse the shops or stop for refreshments. Check admission arrangements if you want to enter the castle itself.

Portland & Chesil Beach views

Choose a route including Portland for views across Chesil Beach from the Olympic Rings and the open-sea setting of Portland Bill. These stops bring a striking change of scenery after the coves and countryside.

West Bay & Broadchurch scenery

West Bay’s golden cliffs will be familiar to Broadchurch viewers. It is a highlight of the Jurassic Spectacular, which covers a wider area and suits visitors looking for a fuller sightseeing day.

A day that suits you

How to choose your Jurassic Coast tour

For a first visit: the Big 3 brings together Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Corfe Castle without filling the day with extra stops.

For more varied coastal views: Jurassic Coast Discovery adds Portland to the mix.

For a wider introduction to Dorset: the Jurassic Spectacular covers more locations over a longer day.

Travelling with fewer people is part of the experience too. Read more about our small-group tours in Dorset.

Think about more than the number of stops

  • Your pace: fewer stops can mean more time to explore each place.
  • Your interests: choose the route for its scenery, history or filming locations.
  • Your walking needs: coastal paths can include slopes, steps and uneven surfaces.
  • Your departure: choose Weymouth or a Portland cruise excursion to match your travel plans.
  • Your inclusions: check meals, admission tickets and any additional costs.

Jurassic Coast tour FAQs

Which Jurassic Coast tour should I choose?

Choose the Jurassic Coast Discovery for Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle and Portland. The Discovery adds Portland’s viewpoints and lighthouse, while the Jurassic Spectacular covers a wider area, including West Bay. Compare the full itineraries to find the pace and places that suit you.

Where do the Weymouth tours start?

The three featured day tours start at Weymouth Train Station. Check your chosen tour page and booking confirmation for the exact meeting arrangements and departure time.

How long do the tours last?

The Big 3 is approximately six hours, Discovery is approximately seven and a half hours, and the Spectacular is approximately eight and a half hours. Allow some flexibility when planning onward travel.

Can I join from a cruise ship at Portland?

Yes. Visit our Portland cruise excursions page for the appropriate options. Cruise excursions have different joining arrangements from our Weymouth day tours.

How much walking is involved?

Walking varies by location and by what you choose to explore. Coastal stops can involve slopes, steps and uneven paths. Contact us before booking if you have mobility concerns so we can explain the route and discuss suitable options.

Are lunch and attraction tickets included?

Check the inclusions on your selected tour. The featured Weymouth tours exclude lunch and entrance fees. Visiting Corfe village does not automatically include admission to the castle ruins.

Will I have free time to explore?

The featured routes include opportunities to explore at stops. The amount of time varies by itinerary, so choose a tour with fewer locations if spending longer in each place is your priority.

What should I bring?

Bring comfortable footwear, a weatherproof layer, a charged phone or camera and money for refreshments and optional admissions. Check your booking information for anything specific to your tour.
